A Move to Anaheim? Maloofs should reconsider

Kings Owners Joe and Gavin Maloof at Laker Game
My team has been in the headlines a lot lately. Not exactly the kind of ink you want about your team but hey at least it isn't about Cousins punching a teammate. Turns out Sacramento to this point has been unwilling to build a new arena and Kings owners Joe & Gavin Maloof are fed up. I get a lot of questions nowadays asking if the Kings are about to relocate to Mickey's hood. If the Kings decide to relocate, we will present an arena without the Kings," Mendelsohn said [ICON Development Spokesman]. "If they decide to stay, we will present a plan that includes the Kings as tenants.," he added.

I don't know if the Kings are headed to So-Cal. Honestly i doubt the
Maloofs know either. Obviously if they wanted to move they would have packed it up by now, but its apparent they haven't found a deal to their liking with Anaheim officials.  "We are committed to creating a plan … to build an arena in Sacramento. That will happen regardless of what decision the Kings make. We believe, like the mayor and the rest of the city, that there should be a new arena no matter what." The Development group is saying all the right things but are the Maloofs still listening?

With the City of Sacramento saying they're committed to building a new arena with or without the Kings in town, you would hope the Maloofs could be considerate and have a little patience here. As a So-Cal resident i would welcome the Kings to Anaheim with open arms. But don't throw a dormant (but loyal) fan-base away for a fickle one in Anaheim. With all the money you would have to pay to move; the NBA (League relocation fee) The Lakers and Clippers (possible territorial rights) Sacramento (that debt you still owe the city) and the LA Kings for naming you could have spent that money on building a contending team. A reboot of the 2002 squad. But i know how much the team means to the City of Sacramento which is why they need to stay. LA loves winners and if the Maloofs aren't willing (or able) to build a winner down in Anaheim or spend the money it takes to build a contender, then Honda center will look a lot like Arco [ahem, Power Balance Pavilion now] has this season. STAY. Build a winner in Sacramento.
